ZOMBIE MARATHON

October 6, 2007
FROM DUSK UNTIL DAWN
7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
Blood! Brains! Zombies! All at the Somerville Theatre!

These were the films that played and the contests!

BRAIN EATING CONTEST!
12 people tried to win the hearts and brains of the attendees by gulping down a disgusting looking combination of jello and vermicelli/ After narrowing down to three, the winner showed a certain brio by staggering to the trough and having red vermicelli drool out of his mouth. Within the next few hours, we will have his audio comments up on this site.

SHAUN OF THE DEAD
Great kick off film! Better with repeated viewings.

Peter Jackson's DEAD ALIVE aka BRAIN DEAD

Peter Jackson's 1992 film lived up to it's billing - gory and funny.

FIDO

This film closed out the fest, not great, but still a worthy addition.

ZOMBIE
A badly tinted print, a bit crude, but a good 3:00 AM film.

28 WEEKS LATER
The sequel that may be a tad better than the original.

28 DAYS LATER
Still one of my favs!.

Zombie is cool :)

Sorry

Read your Zombie Movies list- great list! Thanks for that– it’s going to give me alot more movies to check out!
I honestly think one of the best Zombie flicks of all time is “Return of the Living Dead.” (#8 on your list) I saw it so many years ago, and I think it was the the one that got me hooked. I do have to agree though, the “Dawn” remake was brilliant.
Oh– and I also agree the first 10 minutes of “28 Weeks Later” were amazing– some of the most intense I’ve seen in a zombie flick. I’ve started a blog, and I discussed this in my posting “The Best Zombie Scene Ever”. When I read your list and similar comment, I just had to drop you and email.
Thanks and keep up the good work!

SHAUN OF THE DEAD is my favorite

Saw it approximately 5-6 times. It's great.

Zombie Night Was Awesome!!!!!!

I had the time of my life! I can't wait to do more events like it! Every movie was a hit with me, but I was a bit disappointed with 28 Weeks Later; an American sequel to a British horror flick is as unnatural as the zombies in the movie.

I like the suggestions of doing something different nwxt year. Mix it up...how about: vampires, werewolves, witches, creatures, ghosts and hauntings, etc., you can have different themes going 10, 15 years out if you put your mind to it.

cool

i heard about this fest a few days before it happened and ended up driving from rochester NY (6 hours each way) to get to it and it was totally worth it. fido was the highlight for me as well, i thought it was stellar and its great to see people doing new things with the zombie concept. my only complaint would be the inclusion of the 28 days movies, i think they are excellent films but they were just in theaters recently so i didn't have a burning desire to see 35mm prints of them, and it would have been nice to have had some more classics instead.

anyway great job on the event, hope it happens again!

zombiethon '07

(this page didn't accept my board login for some reason, had to create it again)
"Fido" was easily the highlight of the whole thing for me. Not a purebred zombie movie by any means, but a really fun film

zombies are cool!

Hey Garen, the new site looks great. I can't wait to hear more about the Zombie-Thon!
