The new Star Trek film is what is euphemistically called a re-imagining. That is, it's the same story but told a different way. Back in the 60's when Star Trek began its short lived run on TV, who knew that it would evolve into an enduring cultural icon. The familiar plot tactic of the small, stalwart army platoon with a captain/sargeant and his multi-ethnic collection facing an unknown enemy, was stale even by television standards.  read more »
